The HRMS PTO met on Monday, May 3^rd for the final meeting for the school year. After a brief business meeting, the PTO recognized retiring teacher, Mrs. Sharon Short. They thanked her for the twenty-nine years she had devoted to students.

                The teachers offered SOL test taking tips and strategies for the parents to use as the students prepare for the tests to being May 17^th. Reminders included:

• Help your child feel confident about taking the test.
• Have a relaxed environment. Avoid activities that may arouse anxiety, conflict or unpleasantness.
• Have your child go to bed early enough to get plenty of rest.
• See that clothes which your child likes and feels comfortable in are laid out so that frantic searches are avoided.
• Breakfast is a must-children may eat at school.
• Ensure that your child is not late for school.

Each content teacher provided hints for students to review before testing. Next, Mrs. Helms, the art teacher, and Ms. Pope, the general music teacher presented a “Fine Arts” evening for the parents and teachers. Art work was displayed for viewing and Ms. Pope had a student performance for the audience. Among those performing were: Cloy Nehring, Airelle Nowlin, Lauren Smith, Ebony Reynolds, Stephanie McAlexander, Summer Catoe, Brandi Woods, Shyteria McDuffie, and Francia Chavez.

The next HRMS PTO meeting will be October 4, 2010.
